A flatbed (also called a rollback or slide-bed) tilts its deck down to the ground so your vehicle can be winched or driven up and strapped in place. Once loaded, all four tires sit on the deck, so the driveline, transmission, bumpers and suspension are not carrying any towing stress. That matters for many modern vehicles: all-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive systems, many automatic transmissions, and electric vehicles are commonly recommended to be transported with all wheels off the road. Your owner's manual is the final word, and we are happy to talk it through when you call.
Flatbeds also make sense whenever a vehicle is damaged, won't roll, has a locked steering column, a seized brake, or missing wheels. Instead of dragging a damaged car, we load it carefully and keep it level for the trip to the body shop, dealer, mechanic or your home.
1. Call 403-272-3944. Tell us where the vehicle is (address, parkade level, highway direction or nearest exit), what it is, and where it needs to go. If the vehicle is lowered, modified, electric or damaged, mention it so the right truck and equipment are sent.
2. Loading. The operator positions the deck, checks ground clearance and attaches the winch to a proper recovery point. Vehicles that run can sometimes be driven on slowly; others are winched on.
3. Securing. The vehicle is tied down at the wheels or approved points so it can't shift in traffic or on rough Calgary roads in winter.
4. Delivery. We unload at your destination: a body shop, dealership, mechanic, storage, or your driveway. If you're not sure where to take it, ask us; we work with body shops across the city every day.
