Broken down on Hwy 1 to Strathmore, on Hwy 22X, or on a Rocky View range road? Rural tow tips and 24/7 help from Dave's Towing in Calgary. 403-272-3944.

East of Calgary, the land opens up fast. Within a few minutes of Stoney Trail you're in Rocky View County farmland, and Strathmore is about 40 minutes down the Trans-Canada. Out here a breakdown isn't just an inconvenience. You may be kilometres from the nearest building, with wind and snow blowing across the road. Dave's Towing has been answering calls on these roads since 1992. Here's how to stay safe and get help quickly.
Highway 1 is a divided highway running east from 16 Avenue NE past Chestermere's north side and on to Strathmore. It carries a lot of commuters and plenty of long-distance traffic. With open fields on both sides, crosswinds and ground blizzards are common in winter.
Highway 22X runs east from Stoney Trail at Calgary's southeast edge, out past the Langdon area through Rocky View County. It sees commuters from Langdon and the surrounding acreages, along with farm traffic.
North-south connectors such as Highway 817 near Strathmore and Highway 797 near Langdon tie the main routes together, along with a grid of range and township roads, many of them gravel. Rural calls often come from these.
Most delays on rural calls come from vague locations, not distance. Before you call:
On Highway 1 or Highway 22X, give your direction of travel and the last junction you passed.
Out here, waiting safely matters as much as getting the tow:
The most common rural call we get isn't a breakdown. It's a vehicle that slid off a gravel road in snow, or sank into a soft shoulder during spring thaw. Our winching and ditch recovery service pulls cars, SUVs and pickups back onto solid ground without making the damage worse. Don't try to drive out of a deep ditch. Spinning wheels usually dig you in further.
Rocky View County and the Strathmore area have plenty of acreages, farms and small businesses. We regularly move:
All of this is light and medium duty work carried on our flatbeds. See equipment and trailer transport for details, and give us the make and model ahead of time so we can confirm the right setup.
In town, the calls look a lot like Calgary's: dead batteries, lockouts, flat tires and cars that won't start. Many of these can be handled with roadside assistance on the spot. When a tow is needed, we can take the vehicle to a Strathmore shop or bring it into Calgary to the dealer or mechanic you prefer.
From Strathmore, a tow into Calgary along Highway 1 usually takes 40 minutes to an hour, depending on where the shop is and on traffic at Stoney Trail and 16 Avenue NE. Call your shop ahead of time to confirm they'll accept the vehicle, especially in the evening or on weekends.
